Since 1972, the Callanwolde Foundation, Inc. has preserved an architectural gem and made it a haven for the arts and cultural enrichment of metro Atlanta and the surrounding region. The Callanwolde mansion, built in 1920 for Charles Howard Candler, son of The Coca-Cola Company founder Asa Candler, was saved in 1972 by citizens in order to create a center where individuals can learn, create and grow through the arts. Over 5,000 students, adults and children, benefit yearly from Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, through quarterly classes in the visual, literary, and performing arts, and thousands more enjoy our performing arts series, poetry readings, family storytelling evenings, gallery exhibitions, dance performances, holiday events, and volunteer activities. The community also turns to Callanwolde to hold their own memorable private ceremonies, receptions, and special events.
The community Callanwolde serves is growing and changing, and we want to meet its needs. By giving to the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center's Annual Fund, you will be contributing to:
The ongoing restoration of the spectacular Callanwolde mansion, listed on the National Register of Historic Places,
The support of Callanwolde's quality arts education program which includes classes for all ages in such areas as pottery, painting and drawing, music, dance, photography, writing, textiles, and much more,
An ever-expanding performing arts series, including our summer Jazz on the Lawn concerts, monthly poetry readings, Callanwolde Concert Band, Lyra String Quartet, Emerging Voices Storytelling, Tango Nights and the Callanwolde Dance Ensemble. Callanwolde is home to the Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde and the DeKalb County Federation of Garden Clubs
The Callanwolde Gallery which spotlights Atlanta-area artists,
Callanwolde's Outreach Program, which includes bringing children from homeless shelters to the center for pottery, painting, and poetry, working with senior citizens and teens who work on collaborative art projects,
Life-changing experiences for all! Whether a person is taking a class, attending a performance, viewing an art exhibit, holding a special ceremony, or simply enjoying the quiet ambience of the mansion and grounds, a personal positive connection with the Callanwolde mission occurs and lives are forever enriched.
